About Me
Qualified teacher. Science enthusiast. Champion of different thinkers.
Hi, I'm Abi
I'm a qualified UK science teacher with a genuine passion for helping students not just pass exams, but actually understand and enjoy science.
After years in mainstream education, I've seen first-hand how the traditional classroom setup simply doesn't work for everyone. Bright, capable students fall through the cracks — not because they can't do the work, but because the way it's taught doesn't match how they learn.
That's why I specialise in working with non-typical learners: students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, anxiety, or those who've just never clicked with the one-size-fits-all approach. I adapt my teaching to fit the student, not the other way around.
My Approach
Every session is tailored. I find out how each student thinks, what makes concepts stick for them, and where the gaps are. Then I build from there — no assumptions, no rushing ahead before foundations are solid.
I focus on genuine understanding over rote memorisation. When you truly grasp why something works, exams become far less intimidating — and science becomes genuinely interesting.

What I Believe
Everyone Can Do Science
There's no such thing as a "science person." Some students just need a different route to get there.
Understanding Beats Memorising
Cramming facts gets you through one exam. Understanding gets you through all of them — and stays with you.
Questions Are Good
"Why?" is the most important question in science. I encourage curiosity, not just compliance.
Confidence Is Built, Not Found
Small wins add up. I help students build confidence through steady progress and genuine achievement.
Where I'm Based
I'm based near Dartmoor in South Devon and offer in-person tutoring locally, plus online sessions for students anywhere in the UK.
Online sessions use a virtual whiteboard and screen sharing — just as interactive as being in the same room, and often more convenient.
